FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - St. Lawrence County Public Transit launched a new logo and announced more stops on the Ogdensburg Intra-city Shuttle bus service. The Public Transit logo was designed by SUNY Canton Graphic and Multimedia Design student, Trevor Swinyer, Class of 2019.
A pilot bus service in Ogdensburg that has been running throughout the city over the last four months has proven to be a success. SLC Public Transit is pleased to announce that the Ogdensburg Intra-city Shuttle bus run has been extended to run through June 1, 2019. Customers are encouraged to help ridership numbers to continue to grow.
During the pilot program, riders expressed a need for increased stops on the Ogdensburg Intra-city Shuttle line, so there are now more stops and decreased waiting time. The two new stops include Dollar General and Claxton-Hepburn’s Wound Healing Center. Customers that live in Canton can also get to Ogdensburg several times a day to utilize the Shuttle service. A detailed schedule with departure times is located at slnysarc.org/public-transit.
A logo contest took place this spring for current students of an accredited high school or university. The winning logo, created by SUNY Canton student, Trevor Swinyer, highlights the County’s natural beauty and includes St. Lawrence County Public Transit’s “Connecting Communities” motto. Swinyer received a $250 prize for winning the logo contest.
Support for Public Transit is provided through a 5311 grant that is funded from the Federal Transit Administration and New York State Department of Transportation. The system is operated by St. Lawrence NYSARC. St Lawrence County’s Public Transit provides transportation throughout most towns in the County on Monday to Friday. Rides cost $2 each way and exact fare or token is required. Tokens and ride passes are available for purchase at 6 Commerce Lane in Canton, NY.
