THE FOUNDATION OF ST. LAWRENCE NYSARC HOSTS AUTISM AWARENESS VIRTUAL WALK

The Foundation of St. Lawrence NYSARC (www.thearcjslc.org), is holding a virtual walk to promote awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorders in place of the standard in-person, annual event in an effort to keep everyone safe during the pandemic. Walkers may participate in their own community now until the Facebook Ceremony set for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020.  The event will feature WWNY-TV’s Jeff Cole and may be accessed at www.facebook.com/thearcjslc.

The Autism Awareness Walk is a non-competitive walk to promote education and support services offered by The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence for people on the Autism Spectrum.  There is no registration fee, but walkers who raise $50 or more will receive a 2020 Autism Awareness Virtual Walk t-shirt, while supplies last. This year’s theme is “Essential Workers” and it was selected by vote on Facebook. As in past years, there will be costume and flag contests open to everyone. There are a variety of great prizes available to win, so please download the entry forms and email photos to Contact Me!

For the first time this year, donors may make their own fund raising page and share it with family and friends on social media. Top Fund Raising Teams will be recognized at the ceremony on September 12^th. Donations and registration forms may also be mailed to: The Foundation of St. Lawrence NYSARC, 1942 Old Dekalb Road, Suite 1, Canton, N.Y. 13617. Every dollar donated goes directly to support people and families at The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence.

The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence Children and Youth Program provides individualized services for people with developmental disabilities from three to 22 years old with a specialization in Autism Spectrum Disorders. Students participate in a variety of skill development activities addressing social, daily living, and academic skills using principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.  Additionally, services are offered in the child’s home, in the community, and in their school.  For more information on these programs, call (315) 379-9531.
