Class Descriptions

 

Acting

Teaches fundamentals of Drama, Theatre History, and Acting Techniques. Open to advanced level groups, based on experience and ability. Meets twice a week.

Art History

Explores worldwide artistic expression throughout history. Examines work and technique of famous painters. Ideal for people interested in several subject areas.

Creative Arts

Artists of all levels explore all aspects of the Visual Arts, including: design, sculpture, art history, and crafts.

Cultural & Culinary Arts

Learn about the customs, traditions, art, and cuisine of cultures from around the world. At the end of each unit, you will prepare a food from that culture.

Dance Performance

Teaches basic steps and fundamentals. Genres include: jazz, lyric, line dance, ballet, ballroom, etc. Open to advanced level groups, based on experience and ability. Meets twice a week. Open to beginners.

Digital Arts

Follows the creation and design of multimedia artwork using computers. Photo editing, digital painting, GIF making, and animation are just a few of the projects that will be explored.

Drawing & Design

Focuses on the technique of drawing, shading, and design. Explore everything from realism, to comic, to still life.

Introduction to Acting

Teaches fundamentals of Drama, Theatre History and Acting Techniques. Open to beginners.

Introduction to Dance

Teaches basic steps and fundamentals. Genres include: jazz, lyrical, line dance, ballet, ballroom, etc. Open to beginners.

Imaginary Arts

Focuses on the creation of characters and the fabrication of worlds they inhabit told through comic books, children’s books, short stories, novels, etc.

Music History

Explores musical genres and their cultural aspects, including popular dances, fashions, and political significance.

Music Performance (Piano)

Teaches basic skills necessary to read sheet music and play the piano. Explores different musical genres and techniques for different playing styles. Open to beginners.

Sculpture

Create sculptures using a variety of materials and techniques. Pieces are created using paper, clay, found objects, etc. Open to beginners.

Studio Arts

Advanced course for experienced artists to hone talents in oil and acrylic painting on canvas.

Technical Theatre

Explores the aspects of theatre that help make a show successful. Teaches the fundamentals of set design, lighting, scenery, stage management, costumes, props, etc.
