The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence Foundation (www.thearcjslc.org), is holding a walk to promote acceptance of Autism Spectrum Disorders at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at SUNY Potsdam’s Maxcy Hall in Potsdam, N.Y. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. The event will be hosted by WWNY-TV’s Jeff Cole.

The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence (www.thearcjslc.org) is taking significant steps to advocate with New York State legislators to request a 3.2% Cost of Living Adjustment for Direct Support Professional and for the Direct Support Wage Enhancement to be included in the One-House Budget. These requests were not included in Governor Kathy Hochul’s budget proposal, so members of the agency’s leadership team visited Albany earlier this month to ask for support. Self-Advocates also attended a rally at the State Capitol Building to call on elected officials to, “Invest in Me!”

The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence (www.thearcjslc.org), recently held their Annual Meeting to elect officers and set terms for the Board of Directors, as well as honor employees, volunteers, and individuals supported by the agency. The 2023-2024 elected officers for The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence Board of Directors are as follows: Jackie Sauter, President; Jennifer VanReenen, Vice President; and Joanne Rhode, Secretary/Treasurer.

The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence (www.thearcjslc.org), a not-for-profit organization supporting people with disabilities in Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties, has been awarded $69,966 in grants from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services to support The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence’s guardianship and recreation programs.

The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence (www.thearcjslc.org), announced that Kinney Drugs, located in Watertown’s Seaway Plaza was nominated to receive recognition through the New York State Department of Education in honor of their dedication to provide community employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

In honor of October’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month, The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence (www.thearcjslc.org), announced that Danna Lee Tubbert was awarded the distinction of “William B. Joslin Outstanding Performer,” from the New York State Industries for the Disabled, Inc. (NYSID.)

The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence (www.thearcjslc.org) dedicated a Sensory Garden at the St. Lawrence County main office building located at 6 Commerce Lane in Canton in honor of former board member, Patricia Campanella in recognition for her 37 years of volunteerism with the agency.
