The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence’s Kristy Meeks Certified as Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner

The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence (www.thearcjslc.org) announced that Kristy Meeks, Workforce Development Manager for the agency’s Career Solutions program, received a Certification from the Commission for Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association. As a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner, Meeks is recognized for her work demonstrating how psychiatric rehabilitation positively changes the lives of individuals with serious mental illness to one of self-determination, empowerment, and recovery.

In her position at The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence, Meeks supervises Employment Engagement Specialists as part of the agency’s programming for people supported through employment services with the Office of Mental Health.

The New York State Office of Mental Health collaborated with the New York Association of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services on the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Training Academy to create this certification program. Psychiatric rehabilitation helps adults living with mental health conditions obtain the skills, supports, and resources needed to successfully advance their health and recovery and to meet their essential personal, social, employment, housing, and related life goals.
