The Arc Jefferson - St. Lawrence (www.thearcjslc.org) recognized several employees for completing certifications with the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) E-Badge Academy. Through the Academy, Direct Support Professionals (DSP) and Front Line Supervisors (FLS) get credit for competency by achieving stackable electronic badges, which can be used to attain nationally-recognized NADSP Certification. The E-Badge Academy provides practical and demonstrable recognition of the knowledge, skills, and practices of DSPs and FLSs.
The agency began working with NADSP’s E-Badge Academy and with the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities during their pilot program in 2024. Since that time, the staff who have completed levels of accreditation have received $50,000 for their submitted work and The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence has been reimbursed for the training.
“We are proud of both the Direct Support Professionals who have committed to participating in the E-Badge Academy and the team from our Staff Development Department for their support to ensure the success of this partnership,” said Lynn Pietroski, Chief Executive Office of The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence. “The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence is dedicated to providing premier educational opportunities to staff members, so that the people supported by the agency receive the highest quality services available.”
To date, The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence has had 17 employees complete DSP I accreditation, 14 people completed DSP II, and 12 employees finished DSP III. Another 14 Direct Support Professionals have completed certification as Front Line Supervisors. There are now 11 members of the agency’s team that have completed all levels of E-Badge Academy.
